The French President, Emmanuel Macron, is expected to visit Northern Macedonia and Albania in the upcoming months.
In the speech that he held when he refused to open the EU accession negotiations with the two countries, Macron said that he would travel to the Balkans to meet with Prime Ministers Rama and Zaev regarding the reforms and steps that these countries need to take.
With this visit, Macron may be wanting to prove to Albania and Northern Macedonia that the European perspective of these countries is still open and that France will help them reach this objective.
A diplomatic source in Tirana said that there are no details yet about when this visit would happen since it has been decided only recently as a promise, in principle.
