The Municipal Council of Lushnje has been constituted, and the new
Mayor, Fatos Tushe, started his duty after the May 8th victory. The 35
new Municipal Council members gathered for electing their leaders.

The meeting that continued for eight hours started later than it should, because one of the PJIU Council Members is only 18 years old and had to attend her high school final graduation exam. After her arrival, the voting process for choosing the members of the council finally started. Although the left centered parties have 18 seats in the Council and the right centered have 17, the first session had one invalid vote, and both candidates took 17 votes each.

In the second session, Socialist candidate Asllan Haxhiu won the right to direct the Municipal Council of the city. The councilors of the District Council were also elected, four of which belonged to the Socialists and one to the Democrats. Fatos Tushe took his vow in the presence of Fier Prefecture representatives.
