Longevity is lower on poorer areas, INSTAT data suggest

The average life expectancy in Albania for 2017 is 74.2, according to the Institution of Statistics.

However, life expectancy is lower in poorer areas. Kukes and Dibra are the worse districts, where people have shorter lives. In Berat and Korca they live longer.

In central cities of Tirana, Durres and Elbasan are closer to the average. Lezha, Vlora, Fieri and Shkodra are above the average.

The numbers coincide with investment level as well. Dibra and Kukes are poorer and received fewer investments than the rest of the country, according to professor Ardian Civici. The quality of food, clothing, housing and edication are all important factors.
