Lisbon, Tirana voted as the fastest transforming city

Tirana has received another important award in Lisbon, after receiving two others, one in Barcelona for the new Skanderbeg Square, and one in London for the New Market reconstruction.
The Albanian capital was chosen by an international jury as one of the cities that has seen the deepest transformation in Europe.
The other finalists were Bologna and Gent.
The award, which is given by the Local Governments for Sustainability, the Basque Region and the Aalborg city in Denmark, recognizes transforming works in social-cultural, social-economic and technological categories.
Hakan Lucius, member of the jury and Chief of the Civil Society Division at the European Bank of Investments, said that the three finalists have addressed different components of sustainable development, especially social involvement, urban development and food. Their actions are innovative, the main challenge for our joint future.. They should be an inspiration for all involved actors”.
