Although agriculture is one of most important economic sectors in our country, its development remains very poor.

The Prime Minister Sali Berisha, declared that the agricultural land is suffering from uncontrolled constructions that are present all over Albania.

“We have undertaken some national projects, one of which is the project of planting olive trees. Two years ago, our centuries old olive groves had 4.2 million olive trees. We have started a big project this year, the one of planting 30 million of walnuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pomegranates etc. We believe that this project has great potentials. We trust that Albania, with a rational study and determination could plant 200 million trees”, Berisha declared.

World Bank experts specified that irrigation and drainage systems are in very poor conditions, lacking of investments for decades.
