Kosovo, Parliament votes new president

Kosovo Parliament will assemble to elect the new President, a post that will be for the first time held by a woman.

Atifete Jahjaga is the person for which Democratic Party of Kosovo, Alliance for New Kosovo and Democratic League of Kosovo have found a consensus. There will be another formal candidate, only to respect the constitution.

The new President will lead her office only for one year, because six months after the Kosovo constitutional amendments, there new Presidential elections will be held and the Head of State will be voted by the people.
