Judge Zeneli faced with asset declaration issues during Vetting process

The Independent Commission said that the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interests had brought a positive report for the judge’s assets, but a deeper investigation showed that there is a discrepancy between the vetting declarations and the ones filed at the HIDAACI.

The purchase contract of a villa at the Kodra e Diellit, for 150,000 Euros, was paid to his partner and not to the society. The judge said that the transaction was made in good trust since the citizen is his friend.

According to the judge, for the village that costs 196,000 EUR, he had paid an initial instalment of 46,000 EUR. And until the loan was approved, he had borrowed the money from his friend, and that’s why he gave it to him.

The Commission found discrepancies about the way how a house of 112 square meters was divided in two apartments and the fact that the judge has not declared the privatization of a property from the municipality. Zeneli insists he had forgotten about it.

The Judge said that his wealth was done from his work as a lawyer from 1999 to 2007 when he returned to the judiciary.

The other thing that put him in a difficult position was the clean image. Zeneli has not reported that the USA revoked his visa, but the judge said the application was handed over before the visa was revoked. The decision about Zeneli will be given on July 18th.
