Andrea Pepe, the Italian architect and leading engineer of the
construction site at Detiti Museum, in Genova, where an Albanian worker
lost his life in November 2003, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

The accident that took the life of the 30 year old Albert Kolgjegja was carved in the memory of the public opinion, because it was understood since the beginning that it was a miscalculation, which now has been confirmed even by the Court. The sentence says that his death was caused by negligence in performing professional duties.

Besides the sentence, the architect must pay compensation to the family of the Albanian from Lura, who became symbol of the workers that lose their lives in construction sites. This problem is especially big in Italy, where 1000 workers die each year. Most affected are emigrant workers from Romania, Morocco and Albania.
