The Albanian government will borrow 500 million EUR from the international markets.
According to the government, this is the best option for meeting the needs for funds in the next two years, and for replacing the debt taken in 2015 with Eurobonds.
The Parliament passed a law that allows the Minister of Finances to repurchase part of the previous 450 million EUR eruobond, issued in 2015 and that was to be maturated in 2020.
The new debt will be used to renew the previous Eurobond. The Commission of economy had an urgent meeting while the Parliament was holding a session. The interest rate for the last Eurobond was 5.75%. For the new one, the government is waiting for offers and hopes to have lower interests.
