Gjiri i Lalzit beach “Invaded”

None of the private beaches that are separated by fences in Gjiri i
Lalzit, do not have a regular contract with the local administration.

They behave as owners of the sea, and do not allow anyone to use the beach without payment. In the total 5 km long “Gjiri i Lalzit” beach there is no free space at all for holiday makers.

The entire sand has been invaded by private beaches, which have often caused even physical conflicts with sharp objects between invaders.

This part of the Adriatic is administered by Ishëm commune, head of the which, Sulejman Ibrahimi, elected on May 8th elections, admits that the beach has been badly managed and he also rings alarm bells for the post-electoral situation which is creating delays that damage the tourist season.

“The quarterly contract has not started yet. People wait the contracts and payments, and we haven’t received the mandate yet, in order to start our work. All we are waiting for is to start our job”, declared Sulejman Ibrahimi.

The entire region is divided with barbed wires and fences. The forest is also facing a real massacre, with trash materials thrown everywhere.

The situation has deteriorated mostly due to the total block of the local administrations. CEC is withholding the mandates of the municipal councils and communes, at the same time the ones of the tourist coastlines, because they haven’t sent the documents with the names of the councilors in Durrës district.

In this situation, some people rush to put fences with the hope of legalizing them. The authorities are still in time to save the beach from the transformation into a polluted beach, such as Durrës.
