The 550th anniversary of death of the Albanian National Hero, George Kastrioti Skanderbeg, has been celebrated in Kosovo as well.
There were homage at the statue of Skanderbeg in Prishtina, and a new one was inaugurated in Gjilan.
The “January Flame” manifestation organized for years in this city, was dedicated this time to the historic figure of Skanderbeg, who turned Albania for 25 years into a shield from Turkish occupation.
The statue was placed in front of the Gjilan Commune. Mayor Lutfi Haziri declared that by placing the statue here, the most precious national figure of Albania will be commemorated forever by future generations.
