The number of Albanian citizens demanding asylum in Germany has been reduced, it no longer makes the top ten.

During this year only Germany has returned around 4500 Albanians, while 14.000 others are expected to return soon.

“This process requires its time. We don’t know the time needed for the problem to be resolved, but it is important to underline that the asylum seeking in Germany is the wrong path. People will always be returned to Albania, and they may be even not allowed to enter our country for the next five years. It is better to make use of legal ways to go to Germany, such as working contracts”, declared Susanne Schutz, German Ambassador to Albania.

As for Albania’s EU accession , Schutz hopes that there will be a green light for opening the accession negotiations, after the five priorities are completed, especially as regards the Vetting Law, the judiciary reform, fight against crime and corruption.
