General Health Inspector: “Evidence to Prosecution for abusive hospital waste management firms”

Promising to offer evidence to the Prosecution for the six companies that treat waste management, General Inspector Shkelqim Hajdari appealed the Prosecution to investigate hospitals as well.

“Investigations will show that some companies, not all of them, have not met the conditions for permits to eliminate waste. There is a hidden cooperation between these companies and hospitals, health centres, clinics, etc. From one side there is the firm that takes taxpayers’ money, and on the other hand, there could be other elements of corruption, directors of clinics, who find ways to eliminate waste in clandestine ways. There is criminal cooperation between both institutions because if a hospital refuses and makes a call, there is nothing the firm can do”, said Shkelqim Hajdari, General Inspector of the Central Inspectorate.

Top Channel asked the Central Inspectorate if they suspect of fictive contracts between hospitals and waste management companies.

“Many of them appear that they have contracts with these companies, but the reality must be different. The contracts exist. It is not all clinics that give waste to these firms. Most of them don’t use the legal ways, but hide them in territories away from the public’s eye”, the General Inspector declared.

Shkelqim Hajdari warned that there will be joint inspections with the Health Inspectorate to verify the capacities and conditions of the companies in question.
