The request of the former Vlore Police Chief to accelerate his trial was rejected by the Court of Serious Crimes. While the former police officer is on the run, together with two of his dependants, Gjergj Kohila and Sokol Bode, what are the accusations against them?

Top Channel has footage from the Prosecution which mentions expertise reports of some cellphones, and surveillance made to the traffickers, as recommended by the Italian authorities.

The Prosecution says in the file that for carrying out their criminal activity, the Habilaj brothers (Moisi and Florian ) found support from the former Chief of Border Police in Dhermi, Sokol Bode, who kept that post from December 2013 to May 2016.

There are suspicions that Bode, in cooperation with two other officials, Director Jaeld Cela and the Antidrug and Antitraffic Chief, Gjergji Kohila, have allowed the gang to move their activity freely, avoiding police inspections.

The Prosecution says that the former Chief of Police had three SIM phone numbers through which he communicated to Florian Habilaj and Gentian Ceka, who is the driver of the former Interior Minister.

The phone transcriptions, recommended by the Italian authorities, raise suspicion about the involvement of three police officers. The other officers under investigation were giving information to Taulant Haxhiraj.

Gjergji Kohila and his brother in law, Renaldo Avdulaj, are mentioned by traffickers only by their initials. The expertise carried out on the phones of the suspects in Italy, they have used nicknames, such as “Fiat”, “Adidas”, “Xhek”, “Aliej” and “Agush”.

On April 16th, 2016, Haxhiraj (known as Agushi) said that he received guarantee from the state to plant cannabis in Kuc, Vlora.

Aliej: Did they offer guarantee for accepting it?

Agushi: Yes, they accepted it.

Aliej: Is there guarantee?

Agushi: There is no 100% guarantee. They said: “This is the protection you need?”. The state gives me full guarantee in Kuc, but I have nobody there. It is safe there, with the Director.

Alieaj: Those who guarantee, how much do they want?

Agushi: 30%.

Aliej: In money or goods?

Agushi: Goods, no money.

On the other hand, according to the Prosecution, there is concern among them about the decision to transfer Gjergj Kohila in Shkoder. In a conversation of September 22nd and 23rd between Haxhiraj and Fiat, there are suspicious that Gjergj Kohila is notifying them about the investigation.

Fiat: Be careful. There will be groups after you, starting from tomorrow.

Agushi: That’s what I am doing. I stopped everything.

Fiat: Go tell the boys up there as well.

The Prosecution has taken the Vlora Police structure to identify if there are other suspects who could have been implicated.
