Foreign Minister Cakaj: “EC will open accession negotiations with Albania this June”

Although the country is facing a political crisis, the majority thinks that the meeting of the EU Council in Brussels, which will be held in June, will open the accession negotiations with Albania.
The Albanian Foreign Minister, Gent Cakaj, said that Albania has fulfilled every technical obligation for opening the negotiations.
“The judiciary reform has given good results. Albania has had a precious contribution in the region, acting in full accordance with the EU principles and foreign policies. Albania has had the absolute support of more than 25 member countries to open the accession negotiations. The fight against corruption has continued with positive results”, Cakaj said.
During his meeting at the National Council of Integration, Cakaj declared that there have been no signals for postponing the negotiations even further.
