First trial for January 21st protesters ended

The Court of Tirana found 50 year old Agron Troksi guilty of destroying
public property. Troksi, resident of Surrel village, near Tirana, was
filmed on January 21st trying to break the main gate of the Prime
Minister office by using his private vehicle.

Judge Gerd Hoxha sentenced the accused to 8 months in prison and ordered his car to be seized.

The Prosecutor Shpetim Garunja explained that Troksi has damaged the main gate of the Prime Minister’s Office, causing a damage of more than 200,000 ALL.

Present in the court room were only his family members, and Troksi was represented in absence by the defending lawyer Zef Nika.

“Troksi” is the first January 21st case that has been closed. The most tragic event of this day was the killing of four protesters who were shot while standing outside the Prime Minister’s Office perimeter. But only one of the National Guard soldiers is being held in prison, awaiting trial for causing the death of the protester Ziver Veizi. The prosecution has not given its conclusions for the three other victims.

The trial of another January 21st protester is about to end. Feta Mataj is accused of resisting to the Police.

Other 100 citizens are under investigation.
