EU: Belgrade’s control, unnaceptable

The EU finds unacceptable the decision of Serbian authorities for
declaring Northern Kosovo as part of their tax system, by applying the
VAT.

According to Brussels, this would give the impression that Belgrade’s authorities are not sincere in the negotiations with Prishtina, “Telegraf” reports.

Serbian media say that this decision has caused negative reactions. Each direct or indirect Serbian attempt for imposing control in northern Kosovo leads to the idea of a division of the Kosovo territory, which for Brussels is completely unacceptable.

Bogdanovic: Prishtina, psychological war

The Minister for Kosovo at the Serbian Government, Goran Bogdanovic accused Prishtina of conducting a psychological war with the declarations for removing Serbian roadblocks in north.

During a pronunciation for the Serbian media, Bogdanovich emphasized that the Serbs are determined to protect their point of views through peaceful means.

“We have clear principles and positions. As long as there will be Kosovo Customs agents in the border checkpoints, we will peacefully resist against all the purposes of Prishtina and the communities that support violence for resolving problems”, Bogdanovic declared.

The Minister added that the Serbian government and the Serbs want to solve the problems peacefully, but the solution cannot come through impositions.

Prishtina updated USA and EU

Kosovo Government updated Washington and Brussels for the Kosovo goods that are being blocked by Serbia, which is violating this way the agreement reached on 2 September in Brussels.

The Kosovo goods have not been allowed to enter Serbia even in the last 24 hours, while the Merdare border checkpoints has allowed 20 Serbian trucks full of construction materials to enter Kosovo.

The EU mediator for the dialogue, Robert Cooper, has received an official letter by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mimoza Kusari Lila, about Serbia failing to implement the agreement.

Lila has not ruled out the possibility of returning the reciprocity measures to Serbia.

The head of the Serbian delegation for the dialogue with Kosovo, Borislav Stefanovic, presented some arguments as the motive for not recognizing the Kosovo Customs stamps, which, according to him, will be never accepted by Serbia.

“Once they asked to establish Customs agents, then the flag, then armed people, then the so called Kosovo laws. While the people who are living there would feel surrounded by the so called state of Kosovo, and we cannot accept this”, Stefanovic declared.

Serbian embargo continues

While Kosovo removed the blockade from Serbian goods, Belgrade continued to impede the Kosovo businesses in the border.

Customs officials at the border checkpoint with Serbia in Merdare, announced for Kosovapress that during the days that the checkpoint were controlled by Kosovo, 27 trucks full of Serbian goods have crossed the border and no Kosovo product has been allowed by Serbia.

The director of the Merdara Customs Unit, Sherif Havolli, declared that the Kosovo trucks were refused with the argumentation that they still do not have an official written order from Serbian Customs Headquarters for implementing the stamps agreement, which was reached between Prishtina and Belgrade on 2 September in Brussels.

According to the daily press in Prishtina, the Trade Minister, Mimoza Kusari Lila declared that if Serbia will continue with the embargo, Kosovo will block Serbian goods starting from this Monday.
