Erzen Shkololli is the new director of the National Art Gallery of Albania, replacing Artan Shabani.
Shkololli has been Director of the Kosovo National Art Gallery from 2011 to 2015, totally transforming the institution into a bridge that connected Kosovo artists to European and world scenes.
Shkololli successfully advocated Kosovo’s participation in the Venice Biennale, serving as the first Commissioner of Kosovo in its 55th edition.
Recently he has worked as adviser for the Artistic Director of Documenta 14, a prestigious gallery of modern art.
Shkololli guaranteed the first historic participation of Albanian artists in this event. 17 artists from Kosovo and Albania presented their works in the recent edition of Documenta which was held in Athens and Kassel, proving this way Shkololli’s dedication to promote and include artists of any generation, from both Albanian countries, into the European and world mosaic of modern art.
