Edi Rama: “Dialogue, not early elections”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, commented the decision of the opposition to renounce their Parliamentary seats.

He said that this action was taken based on personal interests, but he said that with this action, the opposition is giving hard blow to the EU negotiations of this June.

Rama said that the opposition fears the new judiciary system, and is certain that they are going to lose the next local elections. However, he said that he is ready for dialogue, without interrupting the government’s mandate, and without calling early elections.

“They have party interests, aiming to destroy the elections. We must see more clearly and reflect, starting from ourselves. The opposition has consumed an unknown act in Western democracies. I was elected Prime Minister after creating a government in cooperation with the opposition. We gave them all the ministries they wanted”, Rama declared.

“I owe to much to my children, my wife, my mother, who are constantly faced with an unjust mud that they keep throwing at me. But I have paid it for the privilege that was given to me by the majority, that of leading this country”, Rama said.
