Albania is facing a difficult situation with electric energy created by hydropower plants.
The recent draught has reduced the Fierza Hydropower Plant production three fold, compared to the same period of the last year.
The Albanian Energy Distribution Corporate (OSHEE) was forced to import 58 million EUR of energy for just the first two months of the year. 20 million more are expected to be imported during March.
This spending may hurt the internal investment plans. OSHEE plans to invest 9 billion ALL on the distribution network, but the spending has been cut and new contracts were suspended.
Sources from OSHEE said for Top Channel that the main priority of the company will remain the consumers’ supply with energy.
