Doris Pack: Albania, far from EU

German right-centered MP, Doris Pack, declared without hesitation that Albania is moving far from the European Union.

“I believe that there is a great danger, because what Albania is reflecting in the world, will affect the report of the EU Commission. We must keep in mind that opposition’s refusal to cooperate for approving some necessary laws in Parliament, for the approval of which their votes are needed, might make Albania fail these conditions. This is a problem that remains on the opposition’s field, but the entire country would have problems. The opposition must know that the goal for overthrowing a government, which is understandable when one is in opposition, cannot withhold an entire country. I think that this is very harmful”, Pack declared.

Referring to the conflict for Tirana, Pack declared that regardless both parties’ and Central Election Commission’s pretenses regarding miscast ballots, OSCE-ODIHR are to decide.

“The opposition pretends that Tirana’s votes were not properly counted, and the government says that this procedure was correct and that everyone should wait the last votes to be counted. We must see if ODIHR will agree will this. After that, the opposition must accept the result.  If OSCE and ODIHR will accept the decision of the Central Electoral Commission, there is no reason for the opposition to keep boycotting the Parliament and refuse dialogue. This is one thing. The other is that if they will keep acting like that, I don’t think that there will be true dialogue”, Pack declared.

In fact, in the interim report, ODIHR expressed its doubts on the legal base of the Central Election Commission.
