“The illegal actions undertaken by Central Election Commission (CEC) has
brought a tense situation around CEC building and opposition protests
around the country, which put in doubt the standards of this election
process if not of the entire election system.”
This is the statement of the Domestic Observers Coalition, who listed a series of infringements through a press release, making responsible CEC and its Chairman, Arben Ristani, as a person that exceeds legal competences.
“Tension rose by lacks in transparency and in announcing data real time, a gap that was filled by the irreplaceable contribute of some media that transmitted the counting process in real time and with professionalism,” says the report.
The Coalition of the Domestic Observers expressed the concern that CEC, under the authority of his chairman, not only is undertaking illegal actions, but during the process of opening and verifying the contested votes is seriously putting in doubt the security of the ballot boxes.
The coalition considers as dangerous the continuing articulations of the Prime Minister regarding the unfinished process and the result of the New Tirana Mayor.
CEC Chairman exceeded his competences by saying that he would undertake the necessary steps for evaluating all citizen votes that were cast in the wrong ballot boxes.
