Democratic Party members abandon meeting in Brussels

The Democratic Party members who represent Albania’s opposition in Brussels, at the Stabilization-Association meetings between Albania and the EU, interrupted the session and demanded to speak during the procedure.

Genc Pollo was allowed to speak, and he said about Taulant Balla, who represents the Albanian government: “He has admitted that he is friend of a drug trafficker who was sentenced in Italy to 22 years in prison. It is a shame that our Prime Minister didn’t replace him with a normal socialist, as we requested last week”, Pollo said.

When his time was over, the microphone was turned off. But his colleague, Democratic Party MP Albana Vokshi, had pulled her phone to film him.

“It would be fake theatre if we adopt recommendations that make appeals for the fight against crime and corruption, with Balla that leads the meeting. I cannot be part of this masquerade”, Pollo said.

After this, the Democratic Party MPs abandoned the meeting.
