The Czech President, Milos Zeman, accusesd the EU of using double standards as regards the independence of Kosovo and Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

“The UN offered guarantee in Kosovo and didn’t respect it. On the other hand there is Crimea, where there has been a referendum. This is double standard and a wrong policy”, the Czech President is quoted by the Russian news agency “TASS”.

The Czech President said that the UN guaranteed Kosovo’s autonomy and allowed the bombing of Serbia. Zeman claims that other leaders lack of the courage to make this statement.

He added that the unification of Crimea with Russia was now a done deed, and Russia dn Ukraine must find an agreement so that Moscow offers financial compensation through oil or gas contracts.

Zema warned that there could be an European war if Ukraine refuses compensation from Russia.

Known for his pro-Russian stance, the Czech President will attend an official visit in Russia from November 20th to November 24th.
