Covid-19; Albanian Greek border officials increase virus prevention measures

Albania’s border crossings with Greece in the south have reinforced health monitoring as part of preventive measures against the Covid 19 epidemic.

24-hour medical staff has been installed at Kakavija boder crossing, with 2 doctors and 3 nurses tracking possible symptoms of the disease. District prefect Astrit Aliaj, who is monitoring the situation said the measures are at the height of the emergency.

So far, all found cases with fever have been proven to be common influenza while measures are being taken within all Albanian territory, in health centers and public institutions.

Decease equipment for customs and health staff at this initial stage, is sufficient according to official notification.

On the other side of the border, the Greek party is reported not to have increased measures regarding the Covid 19 situation, but strict measures have been taken at the Greek border with Turkey.

This is because the border with Albania is still considered low risk.
