Shkoder Court found innocent 13 prison officials accused of power abuse for enabling Admir Tafili escape from his cell.

The court has not released the verdict arguments, but they declared that there was insufficient evidence for incriminating the former Shen Koll prison director, former chiefs of security and prison health department, doctors and police agents.

Tafili was able to escape and murder two brothers over a blood feud.

Shkoder prosecution will appeal this decision, objecting the argument that the evidence was insufficient. According to the prosecution, the criminal had taken an incorrect prison leave.

Tafili had requested a prison leave for visiting his sick mother, but according to the prosecution, his mother was not in hospital and wasn’t even sick. The Prosecution pretends that there are serious protocol infringements in the documentation the enabled Tafili to receive the prison leave. The defendants declared that those were human errors, not falsifications.

The Prosecution asked the Court to sentence the escorting agents for not guarding Tafili’s house, who after entering the home, left through the window and was caught by the police only after committed a double murder.

Judge Aleks Nikolli declared that the decision was based on Admir Tafili’s declarations, who said that he had paid no one for his escape, and that nobody was aware of his plan, except him.
