Constitutional Court declared National Investigative Bureau as anti-constitutional

The Constitutional Court declared that the law of the State Police for
establishing the National Investigative Bureau as against the law. This
means that the procedure for opening it must stop.

The arguments that explain the reasons have not been published yet.

The law was sent to the Constitutional Court by opposition MPs who considered it as taking competences from the Prosecution.

In early April, two FBI experts arrived in Albania to meet with the Minister of Interior. They declared this office would fight corruption and organized crime.

Local lawmakers and experts from the EURALIUS mission recommended the USKOK model of Croatia, which has had good results in the fight against corruption by arresting high-rank officials.
