Commemorating Ohrid Agreement

Today was commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Ochrid Agreement, which ended an armed conflict in Macedonia during 2001.

The persons who signed it on 2001 were not present at the conference that was organized today, such as Arbër Xhaferri of PDSH, Lubçi Georgievski of VMRO-DPMNE and Branko Cervenkovski of LSDM. In this ceremony was not present neither the current VMRO leader and incumbent Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski.

“I am loyal to my country. I have today my flag, my language and my schools” declared Ali Ahmeti, leader of BDI of the governing coalition. Different to Ahmeti, PDSH leader Menduh Thaçi boycotted this ceremony and declared that he could not participate in a cynical manifestation of the massacre that according to him was made to the Albanians’ rights.

The leaders of the biggest Macedonian parties, Branko Crvenkovski from the LSDM in opposition, and Nikola Gruevski of VMRP-DPMNE ruling party gave no comment regarding this activity that was held today in Ochrid. Different to them, the representatives of the international community supported this Agreement by asking both parties to commit for achieving its full implementation.
