Bushati explains Albania’s position on Palestine

The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, explained today in Parliament the position of Albania regarding Palestine.

Bushati says that Albania has the same stance they had in the UN voting.

“Our accession at the Islamic Conference, which is now called Organization of Islamic Cooperation, dates since 1992 when I was still in high school and the Democratic Party was in power. If you want, we can have a session on this matter as well. It was Berisha who made Albania part of this conference. Our representation level was traditionally non-political. There have been invitations for the Foreign Minister as well, but our level of representation is known”, Bushati said.

“If you refer to 1967, I can tell you that there are four obligatory UN resolutions for the Security Council. This is the stance held by the European Union and this has traditionally been the stance of Albania. Many people have asked me why we didn’t express our stance. I can say that this government doesn’t suffer from gigantomania so that we can rush and make our stances public for everything that takes place on the world scene. We must keep in mind that the stance of Albania is the same as before, reflected by our vote in the UN, which is in line with the European Union. As for our ambassador who was present at the Islamic Conference, I remind you that this is the duty of the Ambassador”, Bushati said.

“I reiterate that there is no voting involved at the Islamic Organization ”, the Foreign Minister underlined.
