Prime Minister Sali Berisha declared that the government has tried to
create a favorable climate for the banks, emphasizing that most of the
Albanian banks are foreign.

He declared in the annual joint conference of regional banks that loans are very significant for fighting the economic crisis and transforming Albania into a developed country.

The Prime Minister appealed for increasing investments in mountainous areas, promising that the government will soon enact a law that removes all taxes for investments in these areas for eight years.

“We tried to establish an appropriate legal frame for banks. Most Albanian banks are foreign, because they have found a favorable climate. The dream of every Albanian is ‘Developed Albania’. This country has all potentials for achieving this objective, and this can be achieved thanks to investments throughout Albania. The concept of the Albanian government is to built Europe in every corner of Albania”, Berisha emphasized.

“The government will enact a law that provides 8 years without taxes for those who invest in tourist and mountainous areas. The peak of the crisis is over, but loans have become like financial ghosts. This calls for a new stance. This new stance demands the government to do everything for decreasing them, and it also decreases the investment portfolio of any government. In this point, the role of banks and loans becomes more important”, Berisha declared.
