Bell, updated with budget amends

The Mission of the International Monetary Fund has extended its meetings
in a political level. After many discussions held in the past week with
responsible monetary and financial institutions, the head of the
mission, Gerwin Bell held several meetings with Parliament Members from
the ruling party and with members of the Parliamentary Commission for
Economy and Finances. 

The meeting lasted two hours and was held behind closed doors. Sources say that opposition MPs were not present, but they will hold meetings during the day.

Sources inside the meeting say that the discussion was focused on the current situation with the public debt, which continues to hold a level of 59% of the GDP, and also on latest budget amends.

Democratic Party MPs, members of the Commission, such as Shrefedin Shehu and Edmond Spaho made a detailed summary of the economic situation, mentioning the government reforms, especially for two of most important matters: the debt and the state budget that is expected to be reviewed by the end of this month.

The head of the mission, Bell, did not make many comments. He took notes about what was reported, and will declare the stances of IMF in a press conference in one of these days.

IMF mission will meet today with members of the opposition at the Economy Commission for learning their points of views regarding the budget review and debt level.

This Wednesday, Bell, together with the Minister of Finances, Ridvan Bode, and also the Governor of Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani, will hold a joint press release. In this conference, the head of IMF mission is expected to announce the final recommendations for 2011.
