Bektashi devotees attend “Baba Tomori” pilgrimage

Thousands of believers from Albania and all around the world are attending the Bektashi pilgrimage at the Tomorri Mountain.

The ceremony is held in honor of the Bektashi hero, Imam Ali.

The holy site is 2000 meters above the sea, but the August temperatures remain high.

Almost 500.000 pilgrims may visit the site in the upcoming five days, and 2000 heads of cattle will be sacrificed.

The Bektashi Order is a Sufi dervish order, whose world headquarters are in Tirana, Albania. There are around 8 million Bektashi followers worldwide.
