Declared winner after the Central Election Commission recounted the
miscast ballot boxes, Lulzim Basha gave a press release smiling, but not
euphoric.
The declaration of Mr. Basha is in full synchrony with what the Albanian Prime Minister Berisha declared yesterday in the meeting of the Parliamentary Group, announcing the victory of the Democratic Party candidate.
“It is clear that there is too much enthusiasm in the air, and I am part of this atmosphere. 81 more citizens voted for me, and this was shown by the result of the Central Election Commission. I will wait the end of the process, which must follow in full accordance with the law, fully trusting the institutions and the state. After all demands will be scrutinized, both parties will give the final result certification. After that, all of us must come together to make Tirana progress as it deserves”, Basha declared.
Basha said that the process that made possible every vote to be counted is a victory of democracy. According to him, this fulfilled what is incarnated in the Constitution of the Albanian Republic, and that of the European Human Rights.
“Every vote has been counted and the voice of every citizen has been heard. This is a victory of democracy, a real victory. I want to thank all citizens who voted in these elections. You gave your voice to this process”, Basha declared.
