Basha: “Government’s plan for former political prisoners, unacceptable”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, said that the government’s plan to not pay compensation to heirs of former political prisoners is unacceptable.

In a meeting with Tirana branch leaders, Basha said that Edi Rama and Arben Ahmetaj paid 823,000 EUR for the Fier incinerator, but they will interrupt payment of former political prisoners.

The leader of the biggest opposition party in Albania underlined that the Democratic Party will firmly stand against any effort of the Albanian government to remove the compensation.

He appealed the families of former landowners and former political prisoners to join the Democratic Party protest on January 27th.
