Jose Manuel Barroso, former head of the European Commission, visited the town of Ohrid in Macedonia. He declared that the European Union goal is enlargement with the Balkan countries.

Barroso also explained that the fact that he couldn’t visit all Balkan countries, Albania one of them, doesn’t mean that they are less important.

“I couldn’t visit all the countries today. I visited four of them, and for the others it will be for another time. What I emphasized today is our strong support for EU enlargement with the Balkan Countries”, Barroso confirmed.

Barroso said that he hopes for the countries with inner problems to solve them, in order to strengthen justice, because these are our common values and this is the way that every problem should be solved, he said.

“We hope for the countries with inner problems to solve them as soon as possible. The fact that I couldn’t visit all Balkan countries doesn’t make the ones that I visited more important”, Barroso confirmed.
