USSD, scanning Albania
The Socialist Party greeted today the State Department report for the
human rights. The Socialist MP, Ditmir Bushati, declared that it was a
very real scanner of Albania’s situation.
“The level of corruption and the impunity culture, violence and the lack to take the law under consideration by the police officers, as it happened on the January 21st case; the obstacle of investigations for this matter, the undermining of the citizens’ right to decide their fates, the damaging of the media freedom and the desperate state of the justice system make you think that this report is not talking about a country in the middle of Europe, but about a government that is withholding the European aspiration of the Albanians. Sali Berisha is responsible for the fact that corruption remains a serious problem, which is the politicization of the Supreme and Constitutional Court appointments keep threatening the independence, reliability and integrity of the justice system. The Socialist Party is committed to return the citizens’ trust to the institutions of the free and honest vote, and to the rule of law. Our commitment for limiting or removing the immunity of high rank officials, in accordance with the best international practices, will be the first step in the war against corruption and for eradicating the impunity culture”, Bushati declared.
