Albania’s OSCE leadership/ President Tsereteli: Political parties must give their best

As Albania prepares to take the leadership of the OSCE in 2020, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, George Tsereteli, finalized an official visit in Albania, meeting with the President, Prime Minister, Parliament Speaker, and MPs from the majority and opposition.

As Albania prepares to take the leadership of the OSCE in 2020, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, George Tsereteli, finalized an official visit in Albania, meeting with the President, Prime Minister, Parliament Speaker, and MPs from the majority and opposition.

They also met with the OSCE Ambassador to Tirana, Bernd Borchardt, and members of the international community.

The meetings focused on the priorities of the Albanian Presidency, as well as Foreign Policy matters of Albania in its internal agenda.

President Tsereteli and SG Montella reiterated the full support of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and welcomed the government’s commitment to nurturing the OSCE in the spirit of collective responsibility.

President Tsereteli also encouraged the Albanian political forces to join their efforts in contributing to the country’s engagement to lead the OSCE during the next year.

The delegation also discussed the internal challenges with the Albanian counterparts. The parties discussed the situation of the judicial and electoral reforms, and the need to address the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations through an all-inclusive process.

The decision of the European Union to postpone the accession negotiations was also addressed in the context of continuing and unresolved reforms.
