Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that the international tender for the reconstruction of individual dwellings damaged by the November 26 earthquake will open next week, and fieldwork will begin in the spring.
“On December 31, 2020, on the eve of January 1st 4000 families will enjoy new homes,” asserted Rama, adding that for the appartment blocks construction sites are expected to open within the year, with a view to ending next year.
The prime minister gave guarantees for the construction quality and said that the new neighborhoods will have modern infrastructure and public services.
“If you look at other natural disasters you will find no country giving away free villas. We are giving them for free with European standards. Families with multiple wedded couples will receive a home for each wreath”, stated Rama, adding that the initiative transforms the reconstruction into a genuine social program.
