Albanian law, no provisions on sexual harassment at work

Albanian organizations report that sexual harassment at work is
widely spread also in Albania, but there are no suits in the justice
institutions, because the Criminal Code does not provide laws that
consider this as a criminal act.

Non-governmental organizations in Albania describe that younger women are mostly affected by these harassments, especially those who are single or divorced. The Albanian Criminal Code does not recognize sexual harassment as a criminal act at the “sexual crimes section”.

The Prosecutor Marjeta Zaimi declared for Top-Channel that the Tirana Prosecution has never had any criminal suit on this matter, but it is not provided by the legislation either. The prosecutor said that since this thing has been frequently debated recently, discussions are being made for changing the Criminal Code.

For the moment, sexual harassment is considered as a criminal act only against children less than 14 years of age.
