The Albanian documentary film “AQUARELLE (…’it means I’m sorry)” won the Best Documentary award on the 15th edition of the London Filmmaker International Film Festival, among 10 other nominations of new films coming from USA, China, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, etc.

“Aquarelle” is a production of ARTFILM P&D, written and directed by Pluton Vasi, produced by Vjollca Dedei and Ferdinand Sula.

The documentary was nominated for “Best Editing”, edited by Gjergji Pano; and “Best Story”, written by Pluton Vasi.

The documentary film shows the sad story of Rrok Vuksani, who in the last 25 years has been looking for the remains of his father, executed by the communist regime. The film raises a series of questions, such as: “Do we know how to forgive? What does it mean to forgive?”

“I haven’t seen anyone apologizing. This is the subject, the idea. For this idea, I have found the story of Rrok Vuksani. It is the story of a man whose father was executed in the first years after Albania was liberated from the Nazi occupation. He has met people who knew about the remains, but didn’t want to tell him”, says Pluton Vasi, filmmaker.

Besides the topic, the quality, the way how the story is served to viewers, was one of the reasons why Aquarelle won against the very hard competition.

“This production was difficult to be perceived at first because it is a very Albanian problem. This makes you feel very good, especially when you are competing in a country as England”, said Vjollca Dedei, producer.

The festival was organized into three bigger categories: documentary, animated film and the feature movie, leaving more room for distribution and for inviting experts during the festival days.
