Albanian Committee of Helsinki: CEC, grave infringement

The Albanian Committee of Helsinki, after making a legal analysis of the
process, has accused the Central Election Commission of infringing the
Election Code by turning itself into a Zonal Election Commission and by
overturning the result.

“CEC had an obvious purpose to impede the final processing of the preliminary result. This decision is against the decision of ‘approving the procedures for compiling the tables of the local elections’, which was not implemented, but it was suspended”, declared the Chairman of the Albanian Committee of Helsinki, Vjollca Meçaj.

According to her, acting as Zonal Election Commission, CEC must respect article 118.4 that provides instant evaluation to be made on each contested ballot box, taking an immediate decision for each of them.

“Every decision taken after the result announced by the Central Election Commission damages the process”, Meçaj added.
