Albania will increase the number of military troops in Afghanistan with 60% during the next year, including Special Forces.

The announcement was made by the Defense Minister, Olta Xhacka, during a visit in Kabul.

“We are grateful for your contribution and the decent representation, along with other NATO allies”, the Minister told Albanian commandos.

PM Rama declared that although they haven’t done everything to give our troops what they deserve, the government’s attention to them is maximal.

There are 83 Albanian troops in Afghanistan. With the new contingent, Albania’s contribution will focus on the “Force Protection”, with a consultation and assistance role at the Western Command of Heart.

During her stay in Afghanistan, the Minister met with the Commander of the NATO Resolute Support Mission, General John Nicholson, who praised Xhacka’s ministry for the quality of officers, who, as he said, are among the best.
