Albania visited by 1.2 millions of tourists

Ministry of Tourism declared yesterday that for the first six months of
2011, our country has been visited by 1.2 million foreign and local
tourists.

The number of foreign tourists is 764.593, against 549.105 that were in the last year, or 39.2% more.

36 % of them are one day visitors, 54% stay for some nights, and 10% are transitory.

The biggest number of visitors in this period comes from Kosovo, with 34%, 16% come from Macedonia, 10% from Montenegro, 6% from Italy, 8% from Greece, 3% from Germany etc.

94% of the tourists are European, 3% American, 2% Asians and others 1%.

80% of the visitors come through land roads, 15% through airplanes and the other part from the sea.

The border entry point with greatest flux is that of Morini, through which pass more than 30% of the visitors, followed by Muriqan and Qafethana, with more than 10% of the entrances.

More than 60% of the visitors have stayed for at least 5 days in Albania, and 16% for 10 days.

As for the age groups, 10% of the visitors are under 20 years old, 64% belong to the group age of 20-50 year old, and 25% belongs to the age group of more than 50%.

The revenues from tourism for the first trimester of 2011 are 174.8 million EUR against 161.3 million EUR in the same period of one year ago, or 8.5% more.
