Albania’s inherited debts from the communist regime towards Russia
were signed by the Albanian President, Bamir Topi, who decreed the law
for paying them.

Our country owes to Russia a total of 35 million USD that will be paid in the years to come.

The Parliament approved the agreement between the Council of Ministers and the Russian Federation for fulfilling the financial obligations of the state owned corporation “Bank for Development and Economic Activity Abroad, with the Bank of the Albanian State”.

1,036,000 USD is the first installment that the Albanian state must pay by the end of this month to the Russian state.

Albania will be obliged to pay interests if the payment will be delayed.
