The Prosecution will continue the investigations for Dr. Xhevahir
Hoxhallari, for whom Tirana Court suspended the trial a few days
earlier.

The doctor is accused for the death of the 17 year old Matilda Petriti, on “careless medical treatment” charges. However, in the moment of the final conclusion, the prosecution withdrew the charges, and as consequence, the trial was suspended.

However, sources from Tirana prosecution said for “Shqip” newspaper that they will verify new proofs for Dr. Hoxhallari. After performing a series of investigations, they will decide if the case will be turned for retrial. But the first damages for the prosecution have come with the court bill.

Tirana Prosecution sources say that the file will be discussed with their experts, who will decide for the steps to be taken. However, they specify that all investigations will be performed from the beginning. The prosecution will interrogate some eye witnesses and family members of the victims, who have often accused the doctor and hospital services for the death of the young girl.

The tragic event took place in the summer of 2008, when family members accused the doctor of causing the death of their daughter. After the suit, the prosecution started the investigation against Dr. Hoxhallari.

The forensics report confirmed that the 17 year old died after losing too much blood from the surgery intervention. After a series of investigations, the Tirana Prosecution concluded the investigations and sent the file to court on “careless medical treatment” charges. However, the Prosecution withdrew the charges some days ago and reopened the investigations.
