After doctors, Albanian nurses are leaving the country as well towards the European market.

The Nurse Order, where they receive application documents, say that 2017 marked a massive move of nurses.

“617 nurses have left the country during 2017”, says Sabri Skenderi.

The biggest concern, according to doctors, is that the experienced ones are living hospitals, where they are mostly needed.

The Nurse Order is not satisfied with the quality of nurses that come from our schools, saying that this is one of the first reasons they are not preferred by the foreign market, where they start as assistant nurses.

“Our schools don’t offer practice. They need to go through 500 hours of practice abroad before they can start working as nurses”, SKenderi says.

Germany needs 20,000 nurses right now, a profession demanded in Canada and USA as well.
